Spring HSV

High School Visitation

Important Dates

Event Date: Saturday March 28, 2020

Applications Due: Friday March 6, 2020

What is HSV?

Every fall and spring, high school girls from all over Virginia visit UVA to experience what it's like to be an engineering student at UVA. They spend the day taking part in lab tours, majors fair, design activities, and a professional panel. These events give the girls a look at the different engineering fields as well as the engineering design process, and they can help the students decide if they would like to pursue STEM in the future.

Who is encouraged to come?

The Fall session of the program is mainly geared towards girls in their senior year of high school, but juniors and sophomores are welcome as well. The Spring session is geared towards high school juniors and sophomores.

Students who have previously applied to HSV, are in the targeted grade level, and demonstrate a strong interest in engineering in their short answer responses will receive priority acceptance due to space limitations.

SWE @ UVA encourages young women from all socio-economic backgrounds to apply to HSV. We face high costs in providing three meals for students and volunteers,  ordering program t-shirts, and providing supplies for the design activity. We are extremely thankful for our sponsor who helps minimize the program fee.
