Cluster Groups
Join a Cluster Group
Groups of first-year engineers in the same dorm and will be paired with 2-3 older SWE members. A groupchat will be created for each group that can be used to ask questions (about the e-school, classes, SWE, UVA, life, anything!) and share info about upcoming events throughout the year.
Lead a Cluster Group
This is a low-commitment way to take on a leadership/mentorship role and meet some cool first year students! You can be a helpful point of contact throughout the semester and year for tips and advice as well as a friendly, familiar face around grounds!
***Cluster Groups are most active during the Fall semester.

HSV Planning
Every Fall and Spring, high school students from all over Virginia visit the university to experience what it's like to be an engineering student at UVA. Students interested in an outreach leadership position are expected to have had experience with this event. See all the ways you can get involved below!
Design Committee
As a member of the design committee, you will plan design activities, build design kits, and help run the event.
Group Leaders
As a group leader you are responsible for guiding your highschoolers through the day’s activities, getting them around from place to place, doing icebreakers, and being their go-to for any questions they have. It’s a pretty low-stress position, just involves having a lot of enthusiasm for engineering and UVA!
"Day-Of" Volunteers
As a "Day-Of" volunteer, you can hang around all day or just for a couple hours. Day-of volunteers help with design activities, give directions, deliver food/snacks, and assist with setup/takedown.

MSV Planning
Middle School Visitation is designed to give middle school students a comprehensive look at engineering through hands-on demonstrations, a design activity, lab tours, and lunch with current engineering students. Students interested in an outreach leadership position are expected to have had experience with this event. See all the ways you can get involved below.
Design Committee
Join the MSV design committee and help us design a fun and engaging activity for the middle school students to complete! This is an easy way to get involved in SWE and will require minimal time commitment. We will need your help testing the design activity and developing presentations to explain the activities.

Have great ideas for events? Excited to foster community within SWE? Want a low commitment way to get involved with SWE and still have tons of fun?
Join the event coordinating committee! Committee members will assist the current event coordinator co-chairs Morgan and Anne in coordinating food for outreach events and planning fun activities for general body meetings and SWE member bonding events. Examples of SWE events include apple picking at Carter Mountain, pot painting, hot chocolate bar, and trivia night!
